La fiesta de Pentecostés

La fiesta de Pentecostés nos presenta el “lanzamiento” de la Iglesia a cumplir su misión en el mundo, empujada por el Espíritu Santo. La Iglesia nació bajo el signo de la pluralidad y del multiculturalismo: “Cada quien los oye hablar de las maravillas del Señor en su propia lengua” (Hechos 2,11). Es muy significativo constatar, por ejemplo, que la Biblia ha sido traducida prácticamente a todas las lenguas del mundo; y cada domingo el Santo Sacrificio de la Misa es ofrecido en todo el mundo en más de cien lenguas distintas. En su documento “Gozo y Esperanza” (Gaudium et Spes) la Iglesia nos dice:
“En la propia revelación a su pueblo que culminó con la manifestación pleana de su Hijo encarnado, Dios habló de acuerdo a la cultura propia de cada época. En forma similar, en circunstancias diversas, la Iglesia ha existido a través de los siglos y ha utilizado las riquezas de las diferentes culturas en su predicación, para esparcir y explicar el mensaje de Cristo, examinarlo, entenderlo más profundamente y expresarlo más perfectamente en la liturgia y en varios aspectos de la vida de fe” (#58).
Como la Santísima Trinidad, Pentecostés expresa el misterio de la unidad en la diversidad de Dios y de su Iglesia. Felicito a todos los jóvenes de nuestra parroquia que este domingo recibirán el sacramento de la Confirmación. ¡Que la recepción del Espíritu Santo de manos del obispo, los llene de entusiasmo para vivir y proclamar su fe como testigos de Cristo! ¡Felicidades!

The Feast of Pentecost presents to us the “beginning” of the fulfillment of the Church’s mission, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Plurality and multiculturalism are the signs by which the church originated: “…yet all of us hear them speaking in our own languages about the great things that God has done!” (Acts 2:11) It is very significant to note fore example that the Bible has been translated to practically all of the languages of the world; and every Sunday, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered in the entire World in more than 100 different languages. In the church document named “Joy and Hope” (Gaudium et Spes) the Church tells us:

“There are many links between the message of salvation and culture. In his self-revelation to his people, fully manifesting himself in his incarnate Son, God spoke in the context of the culture proper to each age. Similarly the church has existed through the centuries in varying circumstances and has utilized the resources of different cultures to spread and explain the message of Christ in its preaching, to examine and understand it more deeply, and to express it more perfectly in the liturgy and in the life of the multiform community of the faithful.” (#58)

Like the Holy Trinity, Pentecost expresses the mystery of the unity in the diversity of God and His Church.

Congratulations to all from our parish who will be receiving the sacrament of Confirmation this Sunday. May the reception of the Holy Spirit from the hands of the bishop, fill them with enthusiasm to live and proclaim their faith as witnesses of Christ! Congratulations!
